A Rock Steady Spa-like Retreat- a Bathroom Design Project
Inspired by the picturesque Santa Catalina Mountains of Tucson (Arizona), designer Lori Carroll took on the challenge of bringing the natural outdoor environment and rocky mountainscape into the spacious master bathroom.
Carroll’s clients, a retired couple, requested for a ‘dream master bathroom’, complete with a steam shower, whirlpool, vanity area, and walk-in closet. The couple also wanted a contemporary design that reflected the hilly natural environment that the house was surrounded by.
Consequently, Carroll used a combination of earth-toned hues that compete against each other to stand out, yet create a flowing reflection of the rugged mountainscape as a whole. To put in more warmth to the design, Carroll painted the walls a moderate bronze, adding to the range of earth-toned shades as requested.
The granite countertops create a nice focal point in the kitchen; the crystallized surface emits an ambience of natural lush beauty.
Very often, the most gorgeous built-interior environments are further enhanced by simple, inexpensive items: vases of plants add the finishing touch to the rugged, natural splendor of this exquisite bathroom. It is no wonder that Carroll’s design is a winner of 2 ASID (American Society of Interior Designers) Interior Design Awards.
