"Contemporary Days: Robin and Lucienne Day Design the UK", a documentary featuring the British Design duo.
Scheduled for its debut on the 15th of May 2010, Contemporary Days is a documentary about how the abstract, modernistic art of Robin and Lucienne Day helped to boost the spirits of a post-WW2 Britain.
The couple designed molded plastic chairs such as the Polypropylene stacking chair in 1963, arguably the best selling chair in the world. You may recognize these chairs from classrooms all over the world.
Rob and Lucienne Day worked together for a remarkable 70 years ; unfortunately Lucienne passed away earlier this year, but Robin will soon be turning 95. The film will be aired in the National Geographic Museum's Grosvenor Auditorium in Washington, DC., while Lucienne's textile work will also also featured in the Textile Museum's exhibition Art by the Yard: Women Design Mid-Century Britain, in DC.
